What We Do

We partner with local attorneys and financial planners to provide FREE services to those in need but can’t afford the assistance in the following areas:

  • Estate planning: wills, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives
  • Employment issues
  • Housing issues
  • Medicare & Medicaid; insurance denials
  • Social Security/disability, and supplemental income issues
  • Bankruptcy
  • Uncontested custody/ guardianship, no-fault divorce
  • Financial planning and counseling
  • Debtor’s rights
  • Connection to community resources
    • Emergency financial assistance
    • Transportation, housing, food, and personal care
    • Disease-specific resources
    • Mental health resources

What We Don’t Do

CancerLINC does not provide services for:

  • Although CancerLINC does not provide financial assistance in the form of grants, we can provide eligible individuals with information about resources that do provide financial assistance
  • Criminal matters
  • Contested divorce or custody cases
  • Medical malpractice or personal injury
  • Immigration matters
  • General contract law

Who is Eligible?

Cancer patients who reside or receive treatment in the Greater Richmond area and who meet Virginia state income guidelines qualify for free services.

Additionally we will assist immediate family members of CancerLINC clients. Most people who use income-based public programs will qualify. We will connect cancer patients with incomes above our guidelines to attorneys and financial planners to discuss fees.  

There is no citizenship requirement to receive our services.
