What We Do

We partner with local attorneys and financial planners to provide FREE services to those in need but can’t afford the assistance in the following areas:

  • Estate planning: wills, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives
  • Employment issues
  • Housing issues
  • Medicare & Medicaid; insurance denials
  • Social Security/disability, and supplemental income issues
  • Bankruptcy
  • Uncontested custody/ guardianship, no-fault divorce
  • Financial planning and counseling
  • Debtor’s rights
  • Connection to community resources

Additionally, CancerLINC provide referrals to community resources for cancer patients, for non-medical needs, such as emergency financial assistance, transportation, housing, food, personal care, disease-specific resources, and mental health resources.

CancerLINC does not provide services for: criminal matters, contested divorce or custody cases, medical malpractice or personal injury, immigration matters, or general contract law.

Who is Eligible?

Patients with cancer and their families being treated or living in the Greater Richmond area with incomes below 80% of the area median income ($83,100 for a household of 4) and no significant assets are eligible for free services. Most families who use income-based public programs will qualify.  We will connect cancer patients above our income guidelines to attorneys and financial planners to discuss fees.

There is no citizenship requirement and no geographic residency requirement to receive CancerLINC services.
