Celebrating 30 Years of Impact

Where It All Began

For 30 years, CancerLINC has stood beside cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones, helping them navigate the challenges that go far beyond medical care. Founded in Richmond in 1996 by breast cancer survivors and attorneys Phyllis Katz and Ann Hodges, CancerLINC was born from a deeply personal experience with the legal and financial obstacles that can come with a cancer diagnosis.

What began as a seminar at the University of Richmond attended by more than 120 attorneys and advocates has grown into a trusted nonprofit connecting cancer patients and families to free legal, financial, and community resources—because no one should have to face cancer alone.

Celebrating 30 Years of CancerLINC

On Thursday, September 17, CancerLINC celebrated 30 years of serving the Richmond community with a special anniversary reception at the Preserve at Dundee. We were honored to gather with members of our CancerLINC community, including clients, volunteers, supporters, partners, board members, and friends, to celebrate three decades of connection, compassion, and community.

The evening was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on CancerLINC’s journey, celebrate the people who have helped shape our story, and look ahead to the future.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this special milestone and to everyone who has been part of the CancerLINC story over the past 30 years. Thank you for celebrating with us!
